Health Practice Lineage:

I am grateful to the many formal and informal teachers on my path of medical education. My primary mentors in Osteopathy include R. Mitchell Hiserote, DO, and Daniel Shadoan, DO.  Drs. Hiserote and Shadoan trained with Viola Fryman, DO, who was a student of William Garner Sutherland, DO, who developed the model of Osteopathy in the Cranial Field. Dr. Sutherland was a student of Andrew Taylor Still, MD, DO, who was the founder of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Still was trained as an allopathic physician, and developed Osteopathy in search of a more complete system of healing.  It is likely that Osteopathy was influenced by Indigenous healing practices, as it is known Dr. Still lived and trained alongside healers from the Shawnee tribe during his formative years.

Land acknowledgement:

For thousands of years, the land where I practice has been the home of Patwin people. Today, there are three federally recognized Patwin tribes: Cachil DeHe Band of Wintun Indians of the Colusa Indian Community, Kletsel Dehe Wintun Nation, and Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation.

The Patwin people have remained committed to the stewardship of this land over many centuries. It has been cherished and protected, as elders have instructed the young through generations. I am honored and grateful to be living and practicing medicine on their traditional lands.
